Searching the Skies for Pianos and Anvils

I am tentatively rejoining the world, working like mad to finish projects.  Of course, this would coincide with the complete halt to internet sales.  Today was payday, I got $2.14 from eBay and a bill from etsy that I owed $3.  I don't enjoy this, but surely better times will arrive eventually.  As I always do, I paint every thing that gets in my way blue, nothing new here.

All Thanks to God

It has been a treacherous two weeks, but we are seeing the light at last, for which I give all thanks to God and the good physicians he has placed around us.  My husband came down with covid right after me, recovered as quickly, then one week later, he crashed bad.  I don't know if it was yet another strain or what it was, but it was terrifying.  His doctor reverted back to HcQ and few new things and he finally turned the corner 2 days ago and is doing well, if very weak.

I hope they are right and that this new strain will burn itself out, but who knows anything?  What I find interesting is that 2 years ago, they locked us up, scared the crap out of everyone, had the death count glaring out at us on every news station and website.  I didn't get it, because there were cases here, but they weren't overwhelming, hospitals in our area were almost empty and nurses and doctors were being laid off or having hours cut.  Now, the death tickers are gone, no mention of overwhelming the hospitals, yet, for the first time since this started, our area hospitals have no beds left, they are rationing ventilators because they don't have enough for the huge influx of patients.  Just going to point out that I live in the most highly vaccinated and masked portion of Iowa.  I continue to not know, I don't know anything.

Happy Covid New Year

Well, I rung in the New Year by getting covid, almost exactly 2 years after I had it the first time.  Before anyone knew what covid was, back to Christmas 2019, James saw a patient with a really weird pneumonia.  He got the weird sickness a week later, then I went down for the count.  He gave me a zpac at that time, worried about a secondary bacterial infection and I was better in a couple of days.  He kept getting sicker and sicker, until he took a zpac, and he got better right away after that.  We both had coughs though, that lasted for a month.  We were stunned that our daughters never caught it.  In hindsight, we are certain it was covid (he later checked the pneumonia woman's xray and it was classic ground glass that covid does to the lungs.) and at that point, the young were immune to it.  Fast forward to New Year's eve 2021, I have exact same symptoms as before, but add to it that I throw up anything I try to eat.  I am so sick, I can barely get out of bed.  James takes me to be tested and I am positive (and he was wheeling me around the clinic in a wheelchair--I was that wobbly).  Fortunately for me, the nurse practitioner I see believes in actually treating this disease and gives me the protocol of zpac, ivermectin, pepcid, turmeric, vitamin D, C and zinc.  Now, here I am 2 days later and I don't feel even a little sick.  2 days from "So this is how it ends." to "Was I sick?"  Treatments work, I am living proof.

Humbug

I have zero enthusiasm for decorating, but when I told my husband I was only putting up a tree, he was aghast--"But we always have three trees, it is tradition now!"  I told him the girls are too busy to help me and I just can't do 3 by myself, so despite the fact that the man works 100 + hours a week, he went and bought a real tree and put it up and got one artificial out of the attic for me and up and promises to string the lights, then all I have to do is ornaments.  I opened the Santa cupboard, which usually sends me into Christmas decorating heaven, but I just shut the door again, at this point, I don't want to do it.  Aren't you glad you stopped by for a cheery hello?  Hopefully, I will shut down the pity party by the end of the week and get myself motivated.

I have been putting all my efforts in to the shop.  I finished this red and green group late in the season, but lots has sold already, so glad I did.

It's All About the Claus

I bought these scrap Santa faces a couple years ago and couldn't come up with a plan to use them until now--they are so perfect on these C for Claus and S for Santa blocks, plus a few more odds and ends that I used them for.

Back to the Christmas Workshop Madness

Crazy busy, so many orders to ship, so that is good.  I can hardly walk through my workshop, which is now the upstairs hallway, there are half-finished projects strewn everywhere.  Fortunately for me, I over-bought supplies last year, because EVERYTHING is impossible to find unless I want to pay a premium.  My wholesale supplier has "out of stock" on every craft item I need, and it has been that way for 2 months.  Jingle bells are especially hard to find.  Again, last year, I bought about 500 tiny rusty bells, I think it cost me $9.  I found one person selling them--the cost for 500?  $40!!!!  And I thought the price of steak was insane.  Here is a group of things I finished with my precious hoard of bells.

How is it Mid-November Already?

I have been working non-stop on Christmas goods, seems like I came up for air and can't believe how little time is left until Christmas is here.  I am currently thinking of forgoing my usual Christmas excess and  just putting up a tree.  The house is so depressing these days.  Life goes on, and I do like what I've been creating.
