Little Furniture

I have some rather wonderful pieces of children's furniture and have decided to put it up for sale.  Here are the first pieces...I still have many little chairs that should be added to the shop soon.

Gardening

It is a truth, universally acknowledged, that I love Jane Austen and hate gardening.  Hoping the Janeites at least get that....Be that as it may, my big old house came with a big old yard and lots of perennials.  The side beds are huge and gave me much angst the first year here as I tried to weed it and make it neat, but am much happier now that I am determined to embrace nature and just let it look like the Iowa prairie it is.  The side beds look just like a walk through an Iowa woods.  In the meantime, the way I really like to garden is in pots--everything contained and no weeds!

Signs of the Times

I am on a sign binge these days, I stocked up on stencils and am finding interesting things to use.  The fresh milk sign is an old cupboard door that I painted (price $38 plus shipping), then I've had this old graniteware tray waiting to tell me what it wanted to be and is now a dairy sign for $28.  I bought the old firkin lid thinking I'd find the bottom to go with it some day, but that hasn't happened, so off to the sign factory for $28.  Up top, you'll see a starry crock for $98, a blue bread board sign for $30 and a little stoneware creamer that I painted and striped for $15.

Salt Glaze Stoneware Imposters

I am finishing a big group of antiques that started out as wood and tin and I painted them to look like old crocks.  $38 for a set of 3 spice tins (two different groups), $12 for the spoon, $48 for the grater, $38 for the tea tin, $38 for the dried gourd with a hinged lid and $58 for the dough bowl.  Still more on the way!
