A Little More French Blue...OK, A Lot More French Blue

I finished up more in French Blue milk paint and just purchased quite a few pieces of blue graniteware--it all looks wonderful together.  The toy graniteware is a bit expensive, but the regular stuff is not bad.

Today's Life Lesson--DO NOT BUY A FACEBOOK AD!!!

Well, I placed the facebook ad and got seven whole people to click on the photo, and as far as I can tell, not one person checked out this blog, which was where I sent them to find my eBay store.  I most certainly did not sell anything--the only sales this week were from my loyal customers from way back, thank goodness you girls are still with me!  Live and learn, as they say.  I was doing so well with the selling up until now, that I was in a very creative mood.  It was so easy to look at something and imagine it as something else.  I now have artist's block to go along with my sales slump.  I've been staring at a rather wonderful 1890s pantry tin for a week now, and it still looks just sad to me, I've got nothing in the idea department.  Thus, I am taking a break from the work room and using an creative energy I have to take new photographs of my unsold blues.  I got out some of my blue and white china from the cupboard, it makes a very pretty back drop.

Facebook Ads--Do They Work?

Well, I used to get all sorts of attention on facebook, lots of likes and people commenting on my posts, which are mostly about what I am selling.  Then they made their changes and suddenly I am lucky to get 5 responses to any post, and those are all my relatives.  I have been afraid to ask if the 1800 "friends" that I have find me yawnfully boring or if they just aren't seeing my posts.  I took the plunge and bought a facebook ad to promote my eBay store.  Now to see if I should have just flushed the cash or if I actually get a sale out of it.

Here are the primitives I put in the ad:

The Magic Bunnies Book is Published

My husband wrote a children's book and my daughter illustrated it.  I got the less thrilling editing and marketing job, but we self published the book and it is at last for sale on Amazon and Book Baby and Barnes and Noble.  Of course, I have no idea how anyone is ever going to see it.  I am considering a facebook ad, but have never had much luck on that platform.  I have over 1800 "friends" and still feel pretty much invisible.  Anyway, here are a few drawings from the book.  My daughter Anna is a rather talented illustrator as far as I am concerned.

Check us out on Bookbaby.com or Amazon--you need to type in my husband's name as the author, James Schlichtmann, not sure why the title doesn't work, but currently it doesn't.

Brightening Things Up with French Blue, Spring Green and Tomato Red

I have been painting away, using some new colors.  The first group is milk paint called French Enamel, I love it!  It is a bit bluer than robin's egg, but still has a hint of green.

This next group was done with chalk paint in white and a green called Celery, I think they look very springlike.

and last, we have cheery red and white, inspired by the red granite lid I found at a tag sale--it fit this big old crock, so I painted it to match.

Spring, the Most Stressful Time of the Year

I look forward to Spring every year, just looking for the green to start appearing amidst all the brown and sunshine and warm air--it should be the best season hands down, but it seems to just be a time of stress instead.  It seems everyone I know is going through some difficulty, and of course, doing taxes just about does me in every time.  At least the birds are still singing and oh, it is so good to toss the winter coat!

I have been so busy trying to do projects and still get all the every day work done too--that, plus it is time to walk again every day now that the ice is gone.  I could use an extra 24 hours every day!

Here are a few "white, but still primitive" wares that I have done.

I also bought photo transfer medium years ago to transfer photos directly to wood, but never took the time to actually try it until this week.  I really like the results--a whole new way to ruin antiques, I am sure some will say!
