The Pile of Crap Room is Reborn as the Dining Room

For about a year, my dining room has looked like this, as we piled stuff into it while we worked on all the other rooms.

At long, long last, the transformation is complete....I can hardly believe this is the same view!

Here are some more rather astonishing before and afters...First we have the original salmon colored dining room with the former owners decor, this view is taken from the kitchen.

Can we have a drum roll please?  Here is my beautiful new dining room!

I am completely calling this one a miracle.  The house is presentable at last (well, except for the upstairs, but I prefer not to think about that)

Ever distracted with crafter's attention deficit, I have been making things in spring colors, no wait, red white and blue!  But it is almost fall!  Surely Christmas will be here before we know it?

Cabin Primitives

The girls and I have been finishing cross stitch samplers in antique frames and I love the cabins in tin, so I took their photo with lots of different things I have ready to sell...

I Just Keep Trying...

June is always the worst of months for sales, and more depressing because all the good summer markets and antique shows are coming up.  No sales, no cash to spend!  The antique dealer lament always.  I took some pretty pictures today anyway, I really like how they turned out.

The Kitchen is 95% Done!

I do have to paint the base of the kitchen sink (it will be just white when I am done, ignore the current two tone color, that is just unfinished business).  Otherwise, we have a kitchen, a one of a kind repurposed, almost completely antique, open for business kitchen,


Let us time travel to the before land of weird laminate cupboards and Carmel Desert Sand Poo walls and no artwork other than the oddly placed giant ship and the strange little doll on the wall...

Back to the now!  Ta-da!  Voila! I can't believe we did it!

Except for appliances, everything is antique--all odds and ends that I put together and I love the results.  I surprised myself by deciding I didn't want a dishwasher or microwave.  After doing without them during the remodel, it came to light how quite unnecessary those are to the way I cook and I actually enjoy looking out into the garden while I spend the very little time it takes to wash the dishes.  I swear, it took longer to load and unload the dishwasher than it takes to just wash them in the sink.  Microwave, it was really just an expensive defrosting device and they are ugly besides--this kitchen is all form before function--I completely went for looks over practicality and I am loving it all!

Here are some close-ups of the pretties on the walls.  Almost everything has been in storage for years--I had a lot of sorting and deciding on what to put up.  I have a few boxes of primitives left that I will probably sell, just giving myself a bit more time to decide...

The Best of the Best Primitives

I am too enamored of today's offerings, some of my best primitives and the prices do reflect that, I haven't even decided on some whether to really sell them, but empty pockets will prevail as usual, I think.
