My First Attempts with Chalk Paint

I tried out the chalk paint and like the results for this prim distressed look, but it isn't right for bowls and bread boards for the most part. It is pretty wonderful not to have to take off old finishes, I always hate that part!

  1. Love all the prims you "chalked" up. Do you think the chalk paint isn't as effective on bowls and bread boards due to the oil they soak up in use? Or is it the application. I really need to try using some.

  2. It just isn't as pretty as milk paint, but it is wonderful if you don't want to take off an old finish--it really sticks to anything. The best part is that you can buy small jars at Hobby Lobby now and try it out without spending millions on brands like Annie Sloan. Also, sealing it and adding stain at the end transforms it--I didn't like it at all before I added those touches.
